L’HEREU ESCAMPA
This Spanish duo, with just their debut EP to their name, are fresh off an appearance at Primavera Festival - aka hipster-heaven - in their home country. A guitar, some drums and full blooded vocals make the easiest comparison to be that of Japandroids. In fact, they sound so much like Japandroids there’s not really any use for any other comparisons. So, yeah, if you like big spanish riffs and pounding drums, deez the boys 4 u.

TWIN HAUS
Despite only releasing two songs, Australia’s Twin Haus are already causing a stir with their duelling guitars, gritty vocals and intelligent songwriting. Their bandcamp features Lumberjack Loveshack Parts 1 & 2, both of which build and build and build until erupting. Driven by Zach Gegnan’s twiddling lead guitar and Daniel Grima’s haunting howls, there’s a hint of fellow AFMB favourites Blaenavon, which a dash of Swans thrown in too. Think Foals with less reverb.
Just today, they posted a brilliant video from their single launch of a new song, Intro. Coming it at around nine and a half minutes, it twists, turns and swirls before settling in to very Foals like groove. Worth keeping an eye on.

BLAENAVON / INTO THE NIGHT

Debut single from one of the best new bands around now has a video. Inspired by a lot of quite good bands, they’re a very, very good band. Buy Into The Night / Denim Patches which was released on Paradyse records last week.

COLD WATER MUSIC ft. _MUTE / A MAN WOULD STAND UP

Last month we featured _Mute’s debut track Here I Am (he has two new songs on his soundcloud by the way, and they’re great) and here he is featuring on a new track from Cold Water Music. Sampling a Leonard Cohen poem, they play with a beautiful acoustic arpeggio, an almost future garage beat, whirring reverb and even horns. It’s really nice. Go get cold.

_MUTE / HERE I AM

With this, his debut track, London based producer _Mute has given us one of the most endearing pieces of chilled hip-hop of recent times. Here I Am is a summer evening and, though 2013 is only in it’s infancy, you’d be hard pressed to find a better arranged and beautiful track this year. It’s intricate yet easy, technically astute yet relaxed in it’s sound. It’s fucking great.

IDIOT GLEE / PINKWOOD

ARIEL PINK meets PERFUME GENIUS meets BRIAN WILSON

ATTU / B

A new London based artist, ATTU has released his debut EP ‘IV’ for free on his bandcamp. All the songs merge in to, it’s lovely. Sounds a little like the second half of Foals’ Total Life Forever.
